Summary[]

In the middle of the race, Shoukichi talks to Jin about settling their battle in the race and who will be Sohoku's number one sprinter. The Sohoku third year then agrees and tells him and the Hajime to go with everything they got. As they discuss and leaves the pack towards the goal, the other cyclists get mad at how they are not even consdering them and the other teams as opponents.

The trio then goes to the final lap and start to speed up in order to fight each other and win the race. As Jin keeps in front of the other two and protecting them from the wind, Shoukichi moves to its front and starts pulling both instead, telling his senior that he does not want any excuses when he beats him such as losing because he was pulling them. Later, Hajime goes at the front and starting pulling both Shoukichi and Jin with the same intention of the first year when he decided to pull before. Shoukichi acknowledges how Hajime got way stronger in the past months and that he may lose if he underestimates him. The crowd watches the trio passing by and points how nobody can keep up with the new kings and that they are really strong. Shoukichi gets more excited with the race as he thinks that it is the last race he has with Jin and his last chance to defeat him.

In the pack behind them, the other cyclists are impressed with their speed and Terufumi, their teammate, thinks about how they are leaving him behind even though they are wearing the same Sohoku main jersey that he desired to. He reminds of how Junta Teshima gave him the jersey and told him to race while focusing in the next year's Inter High and thinks that the new captain meant to make him a regular and the team's sixth member. While he is immersed in his thoughts, the other cyclists moves forward and leaves him behind. Terufumi tries to catch up with them while the crowd tells him to do his best and not give up, but gradually the pack leaves the first year behind.

At the course's final corner, Jin and Hajime leaves Shoukichi's back and the three of them goes after goal aiming the first place. Hajime thinks about how Jin helped both him and Junta during their time at the Sohoku and how he wanted to win and prove his senior how strong he became. Shoukichi thinks again about the fact Jin is leaving the high school and that can not imagine the club without his strong presence, so he is determined to win the race and surpass him after all the training he did. At the mark of 100 meters remaining, both Hajime and Shoukichi get in front of Jin and the third year acknowledges their growth and how they managed to inherit Sohoku's sprinters spirit. As his last job, Jin is determined to win and teach them that in the cycling world there is always a wall that needs to be surpassed. The third year catches up with the other two, wishing them to become even more stronger, and manages to pass them and wins the race. Shoukichi crosses the goal in second and Hajime in third. After crossing the goal, Jin thinks that it was the hardest sprint he had to perform so far and looks at Shoukichi, showing him his thumb and getting replied with a disgusted face. Jin gets shocked with Shoukichi's reaction and that was his way of passing the baton and that he was thinking for the best to them. He asks Hajime if he agrees with his way of passing the baton and he gets no reply from the second year, asking him to do it.

After celebrating the victory on the podium, Jin goes after Shingo Kinjou and hugs his teammate after everything they went through in the three years at the Sohoku's club. He then looks and Shoukichi and Hajime and thanks them, stating that it is a race he will never forget. Both them thank Jin for everything and the third year replies how they are unusually honest at the day. Moments after, both Shoukichi and Hajime punches Jin in the chest and, while in agony, he gets his head patted by the first year who ironically tells him that he should choose his words better since they have been in care of their immature senior until the end. Jin angrily rushes after them and Shoukichi and Hajime runs from the third year. Shingo and Junta stares at them and the third year thinks about the successors of the Sohoku he is leaving after graduating.
